About Me

Aleksandra (Allie) Picariello is a rising bassist, composer, and arranger in Boston. When Allie first picked up an instrument at the age of nine, she had no idea that she was going to become a professional musician as an adult. She couldn’t have imagined the passion that would arise, and the musical seeds she was planting. But once she picked up a bass at the age of 13, she knew what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Her dream was to go to Berklee, and become a great bass player.
Throughout the rest of her teenage years, Allie played Bass, Cello, Horn, and Trombone. She played in Orchestra’s, symphonic bands, marching bands, jazz bands, and pit orchestras in and around her hometown of Beverly MA.. Allie is most noted for her performances at the Newport Jazz Festival, and at the Hatch Shell in Boston with the Beverly High School Jazz Band. In December 2010 Massachusetts state representative Mary Grant recognized Allie and her former band mates for there achievements with the ’08-’09 BHS Jazz Band.
Since graduating from high school, Allie has been studying as a n Electric Bass Principle, and Film Score major at Berklee College of Music, in Boston MA. She aspires to become a professional film composer, and an arranger. She has composed music of various styles, from Fugues to Blues, throughout her career at Berklee. During her first semester, Allie met guitarist Matt Collins, and joined his rock band “Jeffry and the Whale.” Allie gigged with the band in venues across Boston in 2010, but left the band in 2011. She has since been freelancing throughout the Boston community, particularly the blues scene. Allie has played with such notable local artists as Alizon Lissance, Cheryl “Dirty Blonde Aruda, Chris Fitz, Timo Arthur, Noe Socha, and Alley Stoetzel.
Since beginning her studies at Berklee, Allie has grown in leaps and bounds. She continues to expand her palette by playing in bands of various styles, on and off campus, and writes creative projects of various styles for her classes. As a bassist, composer, and arranger, Allie is only beginning to contribute her talent to the music scene in Boston, and beyond.
