My name is Scott Hendricks and I’m a professional opera singer. I’ve performed in theaters such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Opéra National de Paris in Paris, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, as well as the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. I have a reputation as a versatile and formidable singing/actor, while being a strong advocate for the composer. In addition to my operatic career, I am an aspiring singer/songwriter currently working toward my Bachelor Degree in Music Production with Berklee Online.
I make music to better understand myself, my community, and the world as a whole. My goal is to examine the world’s cultures and communicate my impressions through song. These songs give myself and others an opportunity to learn about, understand, and appreciate the varied human condition at large.
When writing for a specific culture, I study its art, literature, music, language(s) and people to help inspire musical ideas. I believe each culture has it’s own unique and inherent melody, harmony, rhythm and form. I will try to combine these musical elements in an accessible way that’s able to reach and appeal to an international audience.
As an international opera singer, I’m in a unique position to be able to travel the world as much as I do. These travels afford me opportunities to visit various cultures and keep a musical diary, as it where. These entries will manifest themselves into songs that educate and enlighten me, and, hopefully, others as well.
