AMPARO EDO BIOL
She starts studying music at the age of five at the Ateneo Musical del Puerto de Valencia music school, where she starts playing French horn with teachers Miguel Molina Ruiz and Anna Sanz Campos.
At the same time, she is enrolled at the Municipal Conservatory “José Iturbi” in Valencia, where she gets the Professional Diploma on French Horn Performance. In this Conservatory she studies with teachers Juan José Pastor and Manuel Járrega Ventura.
At the age of seventeen, she is accepted in the Musical Conservatory “Joaquín Rodrigo” in Valencia majoring on French Horn Performance. She graduates on June 2009, winning the Final-Degree Extraordinary Prize for the best performer of her promotion on December 2009. In this Conservatory she has studied with professor Miguel Torres Castellano.
She has also taken courses from Composition program at the same Conservatory with teachers Andrés Valero-Castells, Enrique Sanz-Burguete, Roberto Forés Asensi and Gregorio Jiménez Payá.
She has studied French horn privately with María Rubio Navarro, principal horn in Valencia Orchestra. She has also done a lot of musical improvement courses and she has assisted to master classes and conferences, about French horn performance, natural horn performance, contemporary music performance, jazz performance, composition and conducting, with special mention to those taught by Javier Bonet Manrique, Will Sanders, Juan José Llimerá, Vicente Zarzo, Javier Sancho Oltra, Manuel Perez, Guido Corti, Stefan de Leval Jezierski, Spanish Brass Luur Metalls, Grup instrumental de Valencia, Pedro Iturralde, Enrique García Asensio, Gregory Fritze, Leonardo Balada, Salvador Chuliá and Jose Manuel López-López.
In 2009 she wins a full presidential scholarship from Spanish Society of Composers and Publishers (SGAE) to study at Berklee College of Music, where she is majoring in Film Scoring and minoring in Contemporary Conducting. She is doing a lot of performances and collaborations for the school and she is on the Dean List, a place for the most outstanding students at the school.
As a performer
Since she was ten, she has been playing French horn at the Ateneo Musical del Puerto de Valencia Symphonic Band, conducted by Isidro Coll Ballesteros. With this band, she has awarded the First Price with Honoured Metion in the first category of International Symphonic Bands Contest in Valencia on 1999 and 2007.
She has been member of Valencia University Filharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Cristóbal Soler, Young Valencian Goverment Orchestra, conducted by Manuel Galduf, Valencia Polytechnic University Symphonic Band, conducted by Manuel Miñana, Mediterranian Symphonic Orchestra, Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra, Video Game Orchestra, Lowell House Opera Orchestra and Jazz Composers Alliance.
She has been horn player at chamber ensembles like Ateneo Musical del Puerto Woodwind Quintet, Vents de Vera Woodwind Quintet, Valencia University Filharmonic Brass Quintet, Valencia University Horn Ensemble, Winds Ensemble Instrumental, Berklee Woodwind Quintet and Berklee Brass Quintet.
She has played and recorded with great jazz performers like Toni Belenguer, Victor Mendoza, Danilo Pérez, Miles Evans, Phil Wilson and Christine Fawson and she has worked with international renowned producers Javier Limón and Patrice Rushen.
As a composer
In 2007 she wins the International Composition Competition “Salvador Seguí”. The International pianist Leonel Morales premiered the awarded piece, “Juego de Niños”, for solo piano, in the International Chamber Music Week in Montserrat in July 2008.
Spanish publisher Rivera Editores has published her piece Ron-do for flute, clarinet, piano, violin and cello.
Some other of her works have been performed, with special mention to “Niño Duende”, written for the Musical Meeting that ASPACE organized at Palau de la Música de Valencia on June 2006 to connect music and dance. She worked together with Juanjo Rico, MoMeNTS ArT director, who choreographed the piece.
She has also written a Prelude and Fugue for the Ateneo Musical del Puerto Orchestra, where she has been resident composer since its foundation.
She has been commissioned to write arrangements of all type of music, from chamber music to symphonic orchestra with vocal soloists and chorus, in special mention to Christmas Concert program for the Moncada Choral and Lira Saguntina Choral and Orchestra, and one Opera Concert program for Moncada Choral.
She has been selected as one of the three Berklee students composers to tour to Spain in a program where they performed their own original compositions in November 2009, including her pieces Daydream, Sweet song, Valse and The Orange Tree.
She has been selected to do an internship with Paramount Pictures at Berklee College of Music, where her job consists on both analytical and film composing strengths.
She has the middle level of Valencian language diploma, since June 2005 by the Valencian Knowledge Qualifier Committee.
She has also the High School Diploma in the main subject of Sciences, obtaining a Distinction and the Extraordinary Price given by the Valencian Government Culture Council.
She has obtained a scholarship from the Youth Valencian Institute to study English language in Waterford (Ireland) in August 2005, realizing a course of upper-intermediate level.
She has widened her knowledge studying Chemical Industry Engineering at the Technical School of Design Enginery in the Valencia Polytechnic University.
