About Me
I am 30 and I love to play and teach guitar. Been playing for 19 years and teaching for 8 years. I was born and raised in the Houston, TX area and have been living on the Big Island of Hawaii for almost 4 years now. I play gigs regularly out here and get the opportunity to play with many great musicians. I love all genres and styles of music, and am proficient in lead and rhythm guitar in the styles of blues, jazz, rock, country, and world music.
I am originally self taught on guitar, but am very knowledgeable in music and jazz theory. I have studied with Houston jazz guitarists Mike Wheeler and Erich Avinger. While attending San Jacinto College I began studying guitar and music theory and also received a certificate in Audio Engineering, using that knowledge to run live sound and do audio recordings for bands.A few of my many musical influences are Beethoven, Wes Montgomery, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Monk, Grant Green, Kenny Burrell, Ry Cooder, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Daniel Lanois, Bob Marley, Willie Nelson, Buck Owens, Bola Sete, Ralph Towner, Duane Allman, JJ Cale, Bill Frisell, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Jerry Garcia, Jerry Reed, Tony Rice, Bela Fleck, Beck, Pink Floyd, Beatles, The Roots, Ali Akbar Kahn, Curtis Mayfield….
