About Me

Kyana Fanene was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She graduated from Oakland School for the Arts (OSA) in 2014 where she studied music and trained under the influence of two Berklee College of Music graduates, Cava Menzies and Lisa Forkish. During her 4 years at OSA, Kyana became one of the founding members of the nationally acclaimed high school Acappella group, Vocal Rush. As a member of Vocal Rush from 2011-2014, Kyana’s aptitude for music and personal growth accelerate as the group transitioned from an after school club to a national sensation. In addition to becoming a 3 time ICHSA champion and the recipient of numerous other awards, Vocal Rush also won third place in NBC’s “The Sing-Off Season 4”.
Freshman year at Berklee College of Music, was an adjustment; moving away from home, adjusting to a college workload, and setting up a new daily routine created anxiety. Kyana’s passion for Acapella lead her to audition for Berklee’s, Pitch Slapped which she later became a member. It was through this close-knit group that she found friends who shared her love of singing, along with hands-on experience in performing, arranging and traveling. Kyana’s first year at school can be viewed on Fusion TV’s “Listen Up”, a documentary featuring Kyana as one of 3 students experiencing life at Berklee College of Music. She traveled to New York to record Life-Time Promo Video to publicize the network’s new series “Pitch Slapped” about a high school acappella group.
As a Senior at Berklee College of Music, Kyana has currently finished the last courses for the Music Therapy Program and will continue to be driven and inspired by her professors. She has completed all 5 of her practicums and is very excited about the opportunities ahead. Kyana maintains a 3.4 average in academic studies and maintains a busy schedule working part-time as an on campus Front Desk assistant, in addition to growing her acappella experience with Pitch Slapped. Pitch Slapped has provided some of the most life changing performance opportunities. She was blessed to tour in Southern and Northern California and amazingly, China.
Recently, Kyana auditioned and became a member of Disney’s new a cappella group, “D’cappella.” In January of 2018 she signed her name with Walt Disney Records and is expected to tour with her new a cappella family in Fall of 2018.
Kyana will continue to pursue her love of music therapy and performing and is passionate about helping others in an environment that inspires a love for music and the arts.
