I’m Dan Buerkle, and I’ve been a drummer since I got my 1st snare drum at age 6. 41 years later, I’m still rocking out and jazzing it up. I got started on my own, but participated in school music programs (drum lessons, concert/ jazz/marching bands, chorus) from 3rd thru 11th grade. I took private drum lessons when I was 12-13 yrs old. I’ve played in many local bands since age 15.
I studied Electrical Engineering at Stevens Inst of Tech and Virginia Tech, and received my BSEE from Va Tech (1985). I have worked as a computer engineer for over 25 yrs, mostly for a very large and prominent computer systems/services corporation w/ a 3-letter acronym for a name.
I also dabble w/
- guitar (rhythm mainly, but some electric lead),
- bass (love stuff like LedZep Ramble On, What is,etc but only practice occasionally)
- been picking up piano/keyboard for a few yrs.
I am married to a beautiful wife and we have 3 wonderful grown kids (we got married young).
I gigged w/ bands in High School, then just jammed thru college. I played out in bar bands again in 1995-96. Then I played acoustic vocal-harmony-centric music w/ my kids during the 1st half of the 2000’s, playing guitar, bass and singing. Since 2005, I have been in several gigging bands as follows:
- A woman-fronted pop/classic-rock/country band (05-06)
- A successful classic-rock bar band (name: Heritage, loc: Endicott, NY; ’07-09)
- Tailor Made, a highly successful CNY-regional hot-new-country & classic-rock band.
I still LOVE to ROCK and WOW a big crowd from a nice stage w/ a great sound system!
