About Me

My name is Iman Pascall, I was born and raised in the “Pan Yard”, more specifically i was born in Brooklyn Hospital on May 22nd, 1987 and raised in Brooklyn,NY. I started playing the steel pan at the age of 4 and i played with my first steel band at 6yrs old. At the Pan Yard where i spent most of my days, i received my first form of music education studying under the older players in the band. Always being the smallest and youngest player in the yard i had to use my ears and eyes to learn music. From a young age i’ve been performing across the U.S. and the Caribbean
in numerous concerts and competitions.

At 11yrs old I was the youngest person inducted into the CUNY Music Hall of Fame. I’ve performed with Notable Pannist such as Len “Boogsie” Sharpe, Dane Gulston, Garvin Blake and many others. At 16 i won a full scholarship to Florida Memorial University Steel Pan program, while attending FMU i was also the recipient of the Melton Mustafa Jazz scholarship .

At 17 I placed 2nd in the National ACT-SO competition. Along with monetary and material prizes, i received a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music 5 week summer program, where i was awarded a 4 year scholarship to attend the college. In 2008 i was invited to perform in the Jazz at Lincoln Center: Pan Jazz concert series. Currently I’m studying with Dave Samuels at BCM as well as writing music and performing with my band Utopia Pan Soul:Next Generation/Youth Groove in Brooklyn, NY.
