About Me

Jacob Damelin is a pianist from Toronto, Canada. Born into a musical family, Jacob grew up listening to a large range of musicians including Oscar Peterson, Jimi Hendrix, Claude Debussy, and Abdullah Ibrahim. Damelin has studied with Robi Botos, Greg Dedenus, John Medeski, Nando Michelin, Doug Johnson, Joanne Brackeen and Kevin Harris. He is currently in his first semester as a member of the Berklee Global Jazz Institute directed by Danilo Perez and Marco Pignataro. Jacob loves and has played in bands performing jazz, classical, soul, funk and rock and roll music. He has the ability to produce his own sound and expression in any musical setting.

  • Tutor for Berklee College of Music
    September 2011 to Present (over 7 years)

    Tutoring students in contemporary and tonal harmony, ear training and counterpoint


  • Music Director for Camp Kadimah
    June 2011 to August 2011 (2 months)

    Worked with campers aged 7-16 in improvisation, listening and performance skills. Provided musical accompaniment for production of The Wizard of Oz.

  • Intern for The Eggplant
    May 2010 to August 2010 (3 months)

    The Eggplant is a Canadian music and sound design company that has featured music in television commercials, shows, film and video games. I composed and sourced music for them in the summer of 2010.
