About Me

Jodi Leigh Allen has received her B.F.A. in Dance Performance from Shenandoah University in Virginia and her M.F.A. in Dance and Choreography from The University of Michigan Ann Arbor. Ms. Allen’s professional performing credits include Julie Taymor’s Die Zauberfote (The Magic Flute) and Romeo et Juliette at The Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. She has been a company member of Malashock Dance and Company in California and was privileged to study and perform the Tango with actor Robert Duvall. Jodi was a featured dancer in several revue shows at The Occidental Grand Resort in Aruba as well as danced aboard the Regent Seven Seas Voyager, sailing throughout the Mediterranean and Baltic Seas. After many years of performing, Jodi finds herself transitioning into an educator and choreographer in many academic establishments around the New England area. Ms. Allen is former Director of Dance for The Pomfret School in Connecticut as well as reestablished the dance program at the prestigious preparatory school, Groton School in Massachusetts. She was on faculty for a year at The University of Massachusetts Amherst as a sabbatical replacement as well as was an adjunct jazz instructor for two years at Keene State College in New Hampshire. Currently, Jodi is the Movement Coordinator and Instructor at the A.R.T/MXAT Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University as well as has served as a dance instructor and choreographer for Harvard University’s Dance Program for the last ten years. In the summer months, she is a lecturer for Harvard University’s Summer School programs. Lastly, Jodi holds the title of Associate Professor/Director of Dance in the Professional Music Department at Berklee College of Music where she is establishing a movement curriculum as well as serves as choreographer for the College’s most prestigious yearly concerts. Continuing her work as a freelance artist, Jodi has been involved with educating and choreographing at such establishments as Salve Regina University, the Harvard-Radcliffe Modern Dance Company (HRMDC), as a professional stage manager for one of the oldest theatre groups, the Hasty Pudding Theatricals at Harvard University, and most recently premiered her original choreography in the musical, Carnival, for the Gloucester State Company this July 2012. Jodi is thrilled to be choreographing Cabaret for the Salem State University’s theatre program this up and coming fall.
