About Me

Diego de Caceres was born on August 24, 1979 in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. He grew up in a musical family where his father played guitar and sang opera with his mother. He discovered at the early age of 5 that he had a natural talent for playing the guitar, and his passion was fuelled by the music that he listened to at home. At age 13, with a guitar that his father had given him, Diego initiated his musical studies which eventually led to formal studies at the School of Arts Jovenes Tejedores (1999), under the instruction of the professor Omar Beltran, with a focus on traditional Colombian music. Later on, Diego entered to be part of the School of Rock under the instruction of professor Teto Ocampo, (ex. guitarist of Carlos Vives). He studied in the Academy Luis A Calvo, a prestigious music school in Bogotá (Colombia), where he learned classic guitar, tiple, bandola, as well as Colombian Pacific music and Colombian Atlantic music. Diego also went on to study classical guitar with maestro Mario Riveros, flamenco guitar with professor Roberto Martinez, and electric guitar with professor Amir Calzadilla.

Upon graduating as a music instructor from the Academy Luis A Calvo, Diego de Caceres began teaching the skills he had acquired throughout the years. In 2006, Diego left Colombia and came to the United States to continue his musical studies as part of the project, “Factor Guitar”, with the flamenco guitarists Alejandro de la Fuente and Miguel Grieco. “Factor Guitar” performed widely at many prestigious places like the Ritz Carlton Hotel, the Portofino Hotel, Gaylord Palms Hotel and other venues throughout the Orlando area. Having fallen in love with flamenco music, as his career advanced Diego began to perform and record solo. In 2008 he released his first CD “Cantos De Mi Guitarra”, with all original compositions in various styles including melodic, classical guitar and mellow Latin jazz with a Spanish and Latin American influence. Diego studied jazz guitar professional with the Berklee College of Music .At present, (2012), Diego is studying Master guitar with the Berklee College of Music.
