About Me

Julie’s pure melodic tone transcends any musical style. From jazz to classical to rock & roll, she has a distinctive sound that adds dimension to any musical ensemble.

Julie received a diploma in performance from Berklee College of Music in 1981 where she studied with has studied many accomplished musicians including John Laporta, Jimmy Mousier, Richard Herman, Rick Stepton and Matt Marvollio.
While attending Berklee, Julie played at Montana’s Lounge, Lu Lu White’s and other clubs in and around Boston. After Berklee, she moved to New York City for seven years where she led the “Julie Dukas Quartet”. The quartet performed in well-known Manhattan jazz clubs like Rick’s Lounge, Pat’s, the Angry Squire, Club 40, and various clubs throughout New Jersey.

Today, Julie leads the Julie Dukas band, a versatile ensemble that plays all jazz styles and performs throughout New England. Her band has performed at the Four Seasons Hotel and the Hampshire House in Boston, and popular north Shore venues including Turner Hill Mansion in Ipswich, Rockafella’s in Salem, Palmers in Andover, and the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem to name a few.

Julie also plays with the The Jazz Navigators, another Northshore band she has played with for 7 years. The Navigators have played at the Gulu Gulu cafe since it opened 5 years ago and also plays in many clubs on the Northshore including the Stonehenge Tavern in Tyngsboro.
